Strengthen the muscles that move and support the hip and knee.

This exercise is intended to strengthen the muscles of the lower extremity with emphasis on the muscles of the posterior hip. The GenuTrain Knee Brace from Bauerfeind may aid your exercise performance by providing support to increase knee stability.

  1. Begin the exercise by standing upright with the knotted elastic band or loop placed around both legs and positioned between the knees and ankles.
  2. Everything else being equal, the farther down the leg the band or loop is positioned, the greater the resistance to then movement.
  3. With the band positioned according to your ability, bend slightly at the hips and knees. From this position, take reaching steps to the side.
  4. Repeat moving first to one side and then the other.
